Day 01: Cherai
After arrival at Cochin Airport or Railway Station, you will be taken to Cherai, a one-hour drive from Cochin. After checking-in at the hotel, spend some time on the Cherai Beach; this is a long 10 kilometre golden stretch of clean beach and shallow calm waters. Very few can repel the irresistible urge to take a dive. Even the dolphins take a particular liking to the Pacific waters in Cherai. After swimming and sunbathing, you will feel refreshed and rejuvenated, back to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 02: Cochin
After breakfast, you will check out from the hotel, and go to Cochin for departure. You will start city sight-seeing in the afternoon. Cochin is known as the ‘Queen of the Arabian Sea,’ and here you can see the famed Chinese Fishing Nets while exploring various parts of the port city like the Jewish Synagogue, Dutch Palace, Vasco de Gama Church, Jew Town and Marine Drive, the city’s picturesque promenade. You could opt for an Evening Harbor Cruise in the backwaters of Cochin, or go shopping – the markets are teeming with high-quality Kerala Textiles, Spices, Handicrafts, and loads of other mementoes to take back home, before retiring back to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 03: Alleppey
After breakfast, check out and head west towards Alleppey. It’s a 150-kilometre 5-hour journey to the Venice of the East. By noon, you will be able to check in to the Houseboat. Relax and take some shots of the famous freshwater lagoons of Kerala, while winding through narrow canals, rivers and backwaters. On board, partake of some delicious Kerala local freshwater cuisine for lunch. Alleppey is the place to be if you’re interested in the choir. From all over the world, people descend to this tiny town in search of coir products. Have a romantic candlelight dinner in the houseboat, and stay on for the night.
Day 04: Varkala
After disembarking from the Alleppey houseboat, you will go to Varkala. Varkala is special because of the cliffs that are adjacent to the sea; this is the only place in Kerala with such unique beauty. Spend time on the Varkala beach, which is stunning, while not over-crowded at the same time. After a relaxing day sunbathing or engaging in some water-sports, head back to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 05: Kovalam
Next, you will be taken directly to the famous Kovalam beach, the backpacker’s paradise. Check in at a hotel, take a walk on the beach in the evenings, after which, a relaxing night’s sleep in the hotel.
Day 06: Kovalam & Trivandrum
After the beach, you will go to the capital city, Trivandrum. Over here, you will get to see the Sree Padmanabha temple, Shanmukham Beach, Veli Lake Village, Museum, Zoo, Attukal Temple and other major sightseeing spots. In the evening, you will return back to a hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 07: Kanyakumari
After a hearty Kerala breakfast, you will go to Kanyakumari, the southern-most tip of India, the meeting place of 3 mighty water bodies – the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea. Take a visit to Padmanabhapuram Palace on the way, along with Sucheendram Temple. Check in at the hotel, and go for a trip to Vivekananda Rock Memorial, before heading back to Kovalam. Then, back to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 08: Trivandrum/ Cochin (Departure)
In the morning after breakfast, you will go to Trivandrum or Cochin Airport or Railway Station for departure. After having relaxed the body, and rejuvenated the mind, you will go back home with some pleasant memories of the trip. Come back soon!
